When should you, could you have orthodontic treatment?
Your child’s first orthodontic evaluation should occur around age seven, as recommended by the American Association of Orthodontists. At that early age we normally just observe your child’s growth and development to be sure the transition from baby teeth to permanent teeth is normal. There are a few indications which may need treatment, such as underbites, cross bites, severe crowding, and mouth breathing. Early intervention may avoid the need for extractions of permanent in the future, can guide jaw growth, and create more space for crowded teeth.
Between the ages of 11 and 15 is the most common time for orthodontic treatment. The teen years are important in orthodontics because treatment is more efficient and faster when timed with their growth. Braces today come in a variety of styles and colors making it more stylish than in the past. They are also more comfortable and most of their friends will also have braces at this age.
More and more adults today are seeking orthodontic treatment to improve their smile. We offer a range of different treatment options specifically for adults that will not only improve your smile, but will improve the health of your teeth and gums. Orthodontics as as adult can help you avoid tooth decay, gum and bone loss, irregular and premature wear of the tooth enamel, and give you more confidence.
Types of orthodontic treatment:
Wether they are metal, white or clear… traditional braces have been around forever and continue to be the standard of care. Metal braces are still the most common – they are made of high-grade stainless steel. The tooth colored braces are becoming more and more popular and are made of porcelain, plastic or a combination. There are pro’s and con’s to metal vs. tooth colored braces that you will want to know before deciding.

Here is what makes Six Month Smiles so innovative …

- Use of braces has shown to provide the most conservative and predictable final result
- Six Month Smiles is typically less expensive than traditional braces, aligner therapy, or veneers
Clear Correct/Invisalign type of orthodontics is a newer system of straightening teeth without the use of conventional braces. A series of clear plastic aligners are utilized to create tooth movement. Moving teeth with removable aligners is not new. However, the computer program, which can generate a series of aligners with small changes is the new part. Clear Correct is recommended for orthodontic situations with mild to moderate spacing or crowding. They are virtually undetectable, easy to use and comfortable to wear.
